US!!!

That's right ,changes are happening over at our house.

We are headed to the deep south!!I would be lying if I didn't say I wasn't nervous(okay scared) But I am actually pretty excited too. This will be a pretty cool and VERY different adventure for us. I hear its almost like going to a foreign country down there,but with out a passport. SWEEEET!Which also means I have some shopping to do!

I am not dainty or petite(unless you count my cup size)

I have a small tire around my middle that I am still slowly trying to lose( I thank my adorable son for that one) For that reason, you can typically find me in sweats and baggy t-shirts.

I have freckles and pick my finger nails when I am nervous,stressed or bored.

We live on a tight budget and pass up numerous things on our "want" list. I have a very hard time buying anything (and I mean anything) that is not on sale or I don't have a coupon for.

We don't own anything fancy,unless you count my wedding dress hanging in the closet from 2 years ago that should still be professionally cleaned again at some point.

But we have love and laughter.We have family and kindness. We play and relax.

We have support and jokes as well as a very fun and sweet (almost)1 year old.

My husband tells me I am beautiful(most days)

I have a child who is healthy with kissable cheeks.And who's face lights up every time I retrieve him from his crib.

Some days I need the reminder that money isn't everything and it

"can't buy you happiness" or that I don't have to be a size 5 ever again (yes that's that smallest I get)

But more often then not, I wake up motivated to make my baby laugh or to show my husband I love him by making him a delicious dinner or folding his underpants.

We have a long,long future planned together and I am going to make the most of every day we get.

What a great challenge. I don't have a nice camera or anything but I think I want to try this. (I drool over professional grade A cameras all the time,its on my permanent wish list)I love taking pictures but they are currently being dominated by only Baby A with the occasional Lover Boy in them.

Christmas eve, during our family dinner we started to hear helicopters flying close by. My husband went out on to the porch and looked up and saw several helicopters flying low over the house and farm with their spot lights on. We immediately thought there must be someone out on the property that they are searching for-so we locked the doors,closed the blinds and turned on the news waiting for a report while my sister-in law and her husband rushed down to check on their house. While they were down there they could see the main road that our lane is off of , full of police cars,ambulance and 3 helicopters flying around.

There had been a horrific accent involving a young family that had been hit head on by a suburban.

Over the next few days we would continually check on their progress online and watching the news.

It broke our hears to hear that their 18 month old son passed away on Christmas day. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain and loss their family is feeling. Especially the mom.

The family continues to be in and out of multiple surgeries a day but the latest report expects the rest of the family to survive.

You know the common expression "expect the unexpected" ?
Its kind of been my go-to phrase for my life for a long time. Close friends and family probably be familiar with it being said way too often out of my mouth.
This month has been cocked full of the unexpected. Mounds of images and lists and plans have gone out the window as I am trying to re-adjust the picture.
While sparing you all the boring details, I will just say I am excited for our first Christmas as a family(by that I mean + Baby A)
There will be way too much junk food
Way too much picture snapping, Christmas music, Hallmark movies
and not nearly enough smiling.
I am cherishing these moments.

Sequence of pictures on how Baby A's first visit with Santa went. It went differently in my mind then the real thing.I was envisioning smiles,laughter and a possible tug on the white beard. A isn't a shy baby. He knows when he is the center of attention and will purposely do things to make others laugh. Not this time though. He was NOT digging on the fat man in the red suit, looked at me with his accusing face and when he realized I wasn't rushing to save him-burst into tears. It didn't even seem to help much when I was awkwardly forced onto Santa's lap. Only got worse when his hand seemed uncomfortably low for my taste(can you tell by my stiff pose)Good thing Baby A has been a very good boy this year or he might not have gotten any presents.

LB tells me I am addicted. It might be true. Before I know what is happening I am tapping the keys on my laptop and signing in to my Pinterest account. I recognize this feeling. Its obsession. Which seemed to happen fairly quickly for me which I blame on the fact that it is every girls dream to "decorate" her life in more creative,new and inspiring ways. So.... my recent project and craft were these awesome Twine & Rag ball ornaments I found. Above is my own interpretation.Probably not as cute,but I like them. And since I seem to change my mind about everything every 30 min I can always take it down and change them out with a fabric I might eventually find.

Wintertime in this house means lots of crock pot recipes. Which I love because it means I don't have to worry about making dinner later and which LB really loves because that means he gets a real dinner and not some form of noodles.(I'm a lazy wife-poor Lover Boy)
I made this Tortilla Soup that I came across on Pinterest,several weeks ago and it was a hit. LB hinted strongly that I should keep it in my dinner cycle. Well LB.... wish granted.

Every year since LB and I have been together we have somehow managed to make it to Temple Square to see the Christmas lights. Whether intended or not. Which my Christmas heart loves!! This year we had our little one in tow, as well as LB's family. We bundled up tight and made sure to dress Baby A up REALLY warm and caught TRAX downtown. I always love to walk around amid all the majestic lights and twinkling while Christmas music plays in the background. This tradition always helps me focus and think about the real reason for the season and focus on my Savior. Something I hope we all manage to do this year.

We've been battling runny noses,annoying coughs,cold weather,Christmas shopping,piles & piles of laundry, holiday junk food,much too much Baby Signing time, tears,sleepless nights and lack of exercise in this house.
Fingers,toes,and eyes are crossed for a better week next week.

I am eternally grateful to the man in my life for taking over "mommy duty" ALL day yesterday so that I could get so much needed,cry free time.

During our caravan to and back from California over the Thanksgiving holiday we had to come with some pretty creative ways to entertain Baby A to keep from falling apart. Especially the last 2 hours. Come on-even I had, had enough of sitting in a car after 12 hours. I would basically collapse out of the car anytime I got out to use the restroom. Baby A definitely had some ants in his pants by the end. We found him to be fairly amused by us blowing in his face. Yes-it might be weird but it made him super happy and made me ugly laugh. Our only other goal was to keep from passing out. Have you ever blown air in someones face for over 10 min? Not as easy as it sounds.

Baby A's first trip to Disneyland!We were able to go on a 3 day pass which at this point I think you need to ride even 50% of whats there. Growing up with Disneyland,I was pretty pumped to show A all the cool rides and check out some new ones together. I forgot one very important thing though- THE LINES! Disneyland is INSANE now and LB's personal hell. I am not kidding.He said that after the first day of 8 hours and only 4 rides.We may have made a pinky pact not to take our children till our youngest one can walk. We hit up Califronia Adventure Land on the day 2 which was new for me. I actually preferred it to Disneyland. Alot less crowded and we got through their two major rides in 30 min or less.

A worker there told me one night that if you average at least 8 hours in the park the average person walks up to 7 miles. (yes I talked to the employees-they ususally give you the best tips)

Because we are leaving... well TODAY,we had our Thanksgiving feast with LB's side of the family on Sunday. And it was deeeelicious! I really would consent to any excuse to eat turkey with gravy,potatoes and yum-dum pie. You better believe my babe enjoyed his 1st Thanksgiving meal too! He was slopping up potatoes and stuffing like he was starving. He didn't care much for the turkey though.(Just you wait A)

My "job" was making the brown sugar-glazed carrots.

I pulled the recipe from here.

Super easy and so good if you like that sort of thing.(which I do)

Brown Sugar-Glazed Carrots

2 pounds carrots, cut into 1/4-inch slices (12 to 14 medium)

1/2 teaspoon salt, if desired

2/3 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup butter or margarine

1 teaspoon grated orange peel

1/2 teaspoon salt

Heat 1 inch water to boiling in 3-quart saucepan. Add carrots and, if desired, 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cover and heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer covered 12 to 15 minutes or until carrots are tender.

While carrots are cooking, heat brown sugar, butter, orange peel and 1/2 teaspoon salt in 10- or 12-inch skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved and mixture is bubbly. Be careful not to overcook or the mixture will taste scorched. Remove from heat. Drain carrots. Stir carrots into brown sugar mixture. Cook over low heat about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally and gently, until carrots are glazed and hot. I personally cooked mine for about 10 min instead of 5. I was worried about them not absorbing enough of the brown sugar flavor. It still turned out super yummy

And just because I have been dying to try this out since I saw it on Pinterest,I made Sonic Cherry Limeade.
Oh my word-it tasted like the real thing. If you enjoy your Sonic limeades like I do you might want to give this a shot. Recipe can be found here in original form.
All you need is Sprite,limeade concentrate and cherries with juice(you need the juice part)!

That's right folks. We are caravan-ing it to DL in the CA. I know that you care about 2% but my excitement makes up the rest of that 98%. So its cool. Can't wait to take some cheesy pictures and laugh and scream and maybe even cry(yes cry) I will def be throwing up the traditional touristy "peace" signs. Who cares that I used to be a CA native. I am now coming from the "socks with sandals" land.(which I personally do not do) Can't wait to see how Baby A does on his first time to DL and CA. So many firsts I can hardley handle it. If he truly is my child- he will love the beach. Bring on that sand filled diaper. This mom is ready.

To get ahead start on our Christmas card and also because I just happen to love pictures and have a uber talented sister-in-law we took some family pictures last weekend. She had the clever idea of re-creating a picture from our engagement shoot (above) which featured Rhett,our crazy puggle. This year it featured our SUPER-DUPER chubby 9 month old, Baby A. I mean seriously-this picture kills me. Where is his neck? How many chins are under there? I die of laughter every time I look at it. It doesn't help his case that his hair went flat in the cold which makes his face look even fatter. But I love it with my whole heart anyways. I love my fat baby and his butt dimples and endless rolls on his legs. I love when he purrs or yells to get my attention. I secretly love when he wakes up in the middle of the night because he just wants to snuggle and sleep with LB and I in bed. I love his two little teeth when he laughs.Those are the moments I would never trade.

Holidays just get more and more fun when you have some babes to start enjoying the holidays with you. While Baby A didn't actually enjoy wearing his costume very much,I sure loved looking at him in it. I ~~dragged~~ took him to a bunch of Halloween festivities this past weekend and again yesterday at LB's work. Can't wait till next year when we can actually go trick or treating together. Which brings up another point. Where have all the trick or treater's gone? I remember being out for HOURS when I was a kid. We had pillowcases instead of buckets or bags to hold all our loot. I have been disappointed over the past 5 years(yes 5 years) that every place I live we hardly get (if any) trick or treater's. Thats it, I am bringing it back!! Watch out future family neighborhoods-we're coming for your candy!! Who's with me?

Thank You........

-For the 16 hour sleep the other night- Mama needed some rest.
-For the happy smiles that greet me every time I go in to get you from your room.
-Keeping me humble with the MULTIPLE diaper changes everyday
-Being a tough boy when you hurt yourself. Similar to Superman which makes Dad proud.
-For waking up at 6am this morning,drinking a bottle,getting SUPER hyper and then spitting it up all over me including my mane.(I smell lovely now)
-For sharing your snacks with the dogs. Mama thinks its gross but they love you for it.
-Not being able to walk just yet....... I am not prepared
-For being easily amused so that Mama can take showers,get dressed, eat etc.
-For taking bottles SO well. Its almost like you don't miss nursing.
-Still liking to snuggle with me anytime you are tired or not feeling well. I know it won't last too much longer
-Making me realize just how valuable each moment I have with you is.
-To A's amazing Nana who loves him so much that she is always willing to watch him when Mom and Dad need a break.

We love our little guy. He just seems to get more and more fun every month that passes. He is all giggles and squirms. We have to watch him like a hawk now. Gates have gone up as well as baby proofing has begun. Its fun to see him explore and make messes and figure things out for himself. Smascher has such a sweet and loving spirit and has a smile ready for anyone who talks to him. We feel lucky everyday to wake up to his cheerful personality.

Despite what this funny video of A shows- he has mastered the art of crawling. Oh and don't mind the zoo of animals that appear on the screen. There are 2 cats and 2 dogs in this house and obviously they wanted their second on camera too.Now don't be fooled-he mostly seems annoyed with crawling unless its getting him to an object that he can pull himself up on and stand and move around that way. I myself was an early walker-as in a 10 monther. Baby A may just be the same way. He LOVES to stand and to walk around holding objects.Not sure if I am quite ready for that.

Guess what else? The other week I found a food processor and blender that Lover Boy forgot he bought a few years back which resulted in a brain bubble. Its actually something I have been contemplating for awhile.I purred my first baby food today. It was pears. A actually seemed to enjoy them more then his baby food pears so we'll see if I tend to make this a habit. I found some cute sites with baby food recipes to try out. Click here to one.

Several weeks ago, to cure some weekend boredom, we took Baby A to the zoo so he could see monkeys and elephants and of course the robot dinosaurs. Fact: Dinosaur robots are awesome when they spit water or are T-Rex. (k maybe that's the part I loved) I just love the zoo. And summer.And making LB pose on objects with his sister.

I had to stop reading this sweet families blog because the tears would not stop flowing as I thought of this families heartbreaking loss of a little one. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain and suffering this family is currently going though. I would be devastated if I lost my Baby A. This family is already stronger then I could ever be. Over the weekend we decided to go check out the UP house out in Herriman that was part of the Parade of Homes. It was so fun to check out and see all the fun things they did to it. And news flash-they are selling it for $400,000 for anyone who is interested in having an aqua kitchen and a ready-made nursery. Love it. But not sure I could handle coming home to a rainbow colored house everyday. I could,however, picture myself in that tub. MMM-MMM.

I say what? Yep, you read me right. I said 6 months! Too crazy to be true. This boy is growing and growing fast. I seriously say that every month post I do. But seriously... wish the baby phase lasted just a year longer. I am not ready to call my baby a toddler in 6 more months. BOO freaking HOO!

That being said I do love and I mean LOVE all the things Baby A can do.

Awesome Facts:

He rolls in both directions like a pro.

He laughs a ton and is constantly flashing the grin at anyone who is looking his way.

He is always,always moving.We believe he is trying to figure out the whole crawling/walking thing.

Loves to eat and is now starting to eat Phase 2 foods and Mum-Mums(Australian baby snack)

Likes to swing outside and play in the grass

Doesn't mind hanging out in his big old playpen(Thanks Nana Janet)

Wears 6-9 month clothes now

Enjoys the water, like.... alot! Even baths now!

Is still an awesome- possum sleeper

Loves,Loves books. No really, you even just pull out a book and he starts diving for it.

Has started to notice all the animals in the house. He especially seems to dig Rhett which I actually think Rhett hates. I am sure being tugged at and having someone hit you in the face isn't pleasant. (just you wait Rhett)

Laughs his little head off whenever Da-Da plays with him.

Yep the boy says "Da-Da". We are 99% sure he has no idea what it means but LB likes to pretend its his first word. I am still rooting for Ma-Ma.

Reaches for me now when he is hungry or tired. Which of course I absolutely cannot get enough of.

Like most babies he is obsessed with electronics. Any laptop,phone or remote within grabbing distance, you can bet will be snatched by this one.
Enjoys a little naked time. This boy could be fussy and crying and as soon as you take off his clothes his whole attitude changes. Smiles out the wa-zoo! So we make sure to give him plenty of it.
Is starting to likes balls.A friend of ours let him play with theirs at the pool and since Baby A has become obsessed with them.
Took his first "longer" road trip up to Idaho and did pretty well.

I am pretty sure Heavenly Father sent us the wrong baby because he is too good to be true. I am so grateful that he did though. Not sure what I have done to deserve such a chill and happy baby. Can't say we hate hearing every other day how awesome our child is. Especially from strangers or people at church who ask to hold him. Last month one of LB's best friends from like...

well forever really,got married. They lucked out and had great(hot) weather. Everything turned out beautifully. This girl thought of every detail. I always enjoy a good detailed wedding to oogle at. Don't they make just the handsome pair? We are sad they are leaving to head out to CO.I know LB will be especially sad. Thank heavens for modern technology. Baby has become ALL hands lately and grabs at anything and everything.At Sunday dinner with the fam-bam Baby kept trying to grab the strawberries out of my hand. Since he still is toothless we figured he could suck some of the juicy juice out of them.Some moms may cringe at this (shoulder shrug) but he digs it. Proof he loves his fruit as much as his parents. He must be ours! And all you moms out there reading this can breathe a sigh of relief because I have heard of these amazing things and plan on spending some mulla on getting A some!

Last Sunday Lover Boy was able to give Baby A a name & a blessing. We had a great turnout and I actually think we shocked the ward a little bit when 10 plus men stood up to bless him. (LB as XL sized family)We actually had to have 4 guys sit down because there was not enough room at the front for them to all fit. LB did an amazing job. So much so that he made this one(thumb gesture at myself) tear up. After the blessing we invited friends and family back to have a little potato bar lunch. YUM! My dearest mother sent me the link to this article this morning about a Broadway play entitled The Book Of Mormon. To be honest I had no idea that any play even existed.Especially in NY. Strange right? Being of the LDS(or Mormon) faith I was intrigued to read this article. Hopefully no matter what faith we are we can always have tolerance and love for each other and are not quick to think what we are being "fed" by others and the media is the truth. Baby A and I are out enjoying the beautiful weather today. (FINALLY)

We might be grilling or cooking smore's (YUMMY) tonight or maybe even hit up the $1 movie. Baby A likes those as much as I do. Have I also mentioned that Baby A's hair appears to be changing. I don't believe I have mentioned it yet but we started Ascher on rice cereal and oatmeal a couple weeks ago(you can see what a chunker he is) He was displaying ALL the signs of being ready and interested in wanting to start a few solids. I hesitated for moment about starting him on this journey at 4 months but figured it was worth a shot to see if he took to it and if not then we would wait another month.

Well lo and behold he took to it. If he had a FB page he would "like" oatmeal.

Its been fun to toss in some solids here and there for him and we are excited to see how he does once he starts getting some flava in the mix!

So this morning I came across a bottle of Aloe Vera in my closet and while searching for an expiration date on it I discovered a section on the back of it saying that you could use it for shaving gel,hair gel and blemishes and more! What the??
Did I just discover something awesome. My innards are saying "yes!"
That of course got me pondering...... what other uses are possible for this amazing stuff?
Which then of course Google stepped in and I came across 40 Amazing Uses of Aloe Vera
Motherload!
So I have devised a test, I am going to try out Aloe Vera in these uses for myself .

Pamper yourself to a soothing body rub. Slice aloe leaves lengthwise and use the inner sides as a biodegradable body scrub in the shower.
Treat burns from minor mishaps in the kitchen—from grease splatters or hot utensils.
For more major kitchen mishaps like a scald, mix some aloe gel and vitamin E oil into a little jar for a homemade burn healer.
Banish black and blue bruises by swapping on the good goo.
Make feet baby soft with an exfoliating foot mask by mixing together a half cup of oatmeal, a half cup of corn meal, four tbsp. of aloe vera gel and a half cup of unscented body lotion.
Replace creams and lotions as a general moisturizer for dry skin. Aloe is fast absorbing!
Prevent pesky pimples and treat acne.
Prevent scarring and stretch marks.
Reverse signs of aging skin and wrinkles.
Brighten skin. Aloe can decrease pigmentation and dark spots.
Make skin new again with an exfoliating, organic sugar scrub by mixing together two tbsp. of aloe vera, 2 tbsp. of organic brown sugar and 1 tsp. of organic lemon juice.
For rougher patches mix together an organic salt skin scrub using two cups of sea salt, one cup of aloe vera, one cup of organic coconut oil and two tbsp. of local, organic honey.
Speed up hair growth by massaging aloe into the scalp, letting it sit for 30 minutes, and rinsing.
Replace aloe with conditioner for silkier, smoother hair.
Remove eye makeup.

So obviously not ALL 40 but still a pretty good list of attempts. I am actually pretty excited about this. So don't be shocked if you come over to my house and find Aloe Vera in my shower and on my kitchen counter and in the bathroom and on my nightstand. And don't be surprised if you ask me for some lotion if I hand you a bottle of Aloe Vera.A true test requires commitment.
Here is the plan:
Test out each use for Aloe Vera that I have listed for a full week.Obviously I won't be burning myself on purpose but if the situation were to arise..........

Senor Mono

Introducing the latest addition to our clan.

We have dubbed him Senor Mono(for those not so spanishly inclined-Mister Monkey).

Male(obviously) and weighing in at a questionable 1 ounce he is our Baby A's current bud.

The Easter Bunny dropped him off and Baby A was Oh-So happy to receive him. I know this because Baby A smiled at him when they were introduced.

They even take naps together.Senor Mono gets cranky too. And being the crazy mom I am, knowing he is in there keeping my boy company makes me feel a little better.

Baby A's first Easter

There is nothing better then sharing holidays with my cute little babe and dashing husband. LB teases me because holidays just give me an extra excuse to dress Baby A up in something I declare as awesome.This time it was a tan,spotted bow tie that a neighbor gifted to him when he was born. Like I said before... awesome.

Even though we spent most of church taking turns walking the halls with Baby A, I couldn't help thinking about how blessed I truly am in this life and its all thanks to my Savior. He has made it possible for me to be at this amazing point in my life and to have the most caring husband and the most happy baby. In June we will officially make our family official by being Sealed for All Time and Eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. I can't wait!! I am literally counting down the days!

I finally know why

Did you ever used to wonder why it was usually your dashing mustached dad who seemed to grace all your pictures from when you were born usually up until a year old or so? Or maybe you mostly find pictures of just you and your sibs?No its not because your dad loved you more and your mom was embarrassed of you. Its probably not even because you were an ugo baby( I have decided theres not such thing)

Well I finally figured out the secret. I have become that secret.

Yes..... its because your mom(and I AM including myself in on this) has not lost all her baby weight yet and does not want photographic evidence of this period of time.

Heidi Klum I curse you. You had 4 children and usually within a record time of 2-3 months you were back on the runway making me believe that I could be back to my old bod(maybe even better with this new milk rack) and sporting lingerie for a living. Yes I do base my life after celebs and what they accomplish. Its a sad existence.

Anywho..... so to catch you up. My body does not look like this

as I was SO hoping it would. Heres to hoping that in a few more months I will be capable and willing to put on some sort of swimsuit to enjoy the water with my "well worth the stretch marks and extra 10 lbs" baby boy!

3 months and feeling good

I woke up this week knowing something strange....

I am the mother of a 3 month old!

Can you even believe it?

I am his mother and I can't believe it! There is no way my boy is already 3 months. Time seems to be flying by and while I wish I could stop the clock I am loving the progress Baby A is making. Ever hear of pregnancy/post baby brain syndrome?(no huh? Well its totally real) Since being self- diagnosed I have been required to keep a "journal" to document Baby A's milestones. So here are his latest-

-His favorite time of the day is currently morning time. Which I must admit on some days 7am is a little early for me. Which usually results in me feeding him while laying down in hopes that he will doze off. .. not always so fortunate. The best is when he cracks a huge gummy grin at me while eating and starts to "talk" to me. Makes me laugh every-time.

-Baby A has become quite the chatter box and he loves when you "talk" back to him. He usually squeals with delight and even makes the facial expressions to go along with whatever stories he thinks he is telling us. I like to imagine they're about magical creatures and smiling trees with singing bee's.

-He still favors his tummy when sleeping and has now become a little worm.Every time I go in to get him when he wakes I find in him in one of the corners of his crib all balled up. He is usually pretty pleased with himself.

- Most nights he will have a long stretch of at least 5 hours(thank goodness) and has thrown in a few 8-9 hour stretches as well. I usually freak out and have to go in and check on him to make sure he is breathing on those nights.

-The favored comments he gets lately are on how much hair he has and how he is all cheeks.

So you could say I have a "fat" and "hairy"baby.

-LB's current fear is (and he will hate me for putting this on a blog) that our boys hair will end up some version of red. Its true that we have seen a red tint to his brown hair and have had a few people remark that they spied a little fire in our boys hairs.

-To give you an idea of his current lbs-at his 2 month check up he was weighing in at a hearty 14.4 and 23 in long. He is starting to fit in to his 3 months clothes and I have already packed up some of his newborn outfits.

-He isn't very keen on his paci's but he is a sucker for his thumb(bah-ha) He has become an excellent self soother because of this. Which of course I appreciate.

-He has become a pro at holding up his head and is now working hard at sitting up and standing.Anytime we have him laying down he always is grunting and shifting around to try and pull himself up.

This is about a month too late seeing as Ascher turns 2 months this coming week. But I love it and had to share. My cute sister in law(who also photographed our wedding) took these of our guy. It was a troublesome ordeal to get some of the shots and some of the best ones were when he FINALLY fell asleep! Note to self... babies don't like being posed and fussed with when they are awake.

6 Weeks

Time is going much to fast for this Mama!
I can't believe that my little guy is already 6 weeks old. Granted he is a big 6 week old baby but I love all his chub and love seeing him get fatter right before my very eyes.
He works hard at impressing us and lets be honest, it doesn't take much.
Ascher does a great job at holding up his own head and is constantly working at it. He can turn his head from side to side on his tummy and loves to follow people around with his eyes.
He must be anxious to get moving because he is constantly working at standing up and kicking against us when he is sitting down.(Mom is sadly smiling)
Obviously he loves to eat-the rolls are accumulating every day which his mama loves to kiss and tickle. He isn't sure how he feels about his baths. They are touch and go. But he does love to shower with his dad. Ascher has been a little sick this week so LB has been taking him in the shower with him to break up the congestion and I think its safe to say that LB will rarely be showering alone now. We quickly figured out that Ascher hates sleeping on his back(or alone) and much prefers to be on his tummy(and in someones arms). I know, I know.. all the doctors discourage this but trust me.. he likes it. We definitely feel better about it since we know he can move his head from side to side now too. One night he even had a good 6 hour sleep and this mama is anxiously waiting for the next one. Can't believe how I survive on so little sleep these days.
Ascher is currently going through a love for his daddy and seems to prefer being held tummy down on his dad's forearm. Seriously, its the magic hold for the cranky Ascher.
Smascher is already growing up too fast for this emotional mama but we love to see all the progress he is making and LOVE when he graces us with a big toothless smile or giggle.

I have a lovely husband. He is seriously A ++ in the husband department.
Currently he is on a well deserved mini break and I could not be more okay with it. LB works VERY hard and puts in alot of hours to take care of baby Ascher and I. Plus... he is sexy.

LB spoiled me for V- day this year. That's right, my man picked out and got me jewelry all on his own. And I LOVED it!I must say I was shocked and pleased when LB kept pulling little boxes of delight out of his pockets on Friday night(our date)Man, and all I got him was a new outfit. (the man has no clothes)
He also took us to a nice dinner and then to a movie! I am one lucky,lucky lady. Ascher and I are going to miss him heaps the next few days.

Valentines Day is mine and LB's favorite holiday. We had our very first date 2 years ago on Valentines day and it was amazing and last year LB took me to all these places that were special to us. This year is no exception to amazing-ness (that's a word right?) We have our sweet little boy to thank for that. Me and my boy hung out till daddy got home and then we went and supported him at his soccer game . Nothing too crazy, but LB is taking me on a date tomorrow night,just the two of us!

LB told Ascher I came up with his first cool nickname when I called him this the other night. I guess Lover Boy's nick name as a kid was Smash B-I am not sure why, but it makes me smile none the less.
In case you were wondering this is an update of baby Ascher's chubby cheeks. Seriously I think they might be as wide as his head is long. I LOVE it! I am a sucker for fat babies. And check out those big tired eyes. Its a good bet that I am kinda obsessed with my boy. I even told him I would be his best friend till he was 5.
At his 2 week appointment my babe was tipping the scales at almost 10lbs. Thats' right he lost and then put back his baby weight plus an extra lb. Have to admit I was a proud mother hen when our pediatrician was praising his weight gain. Who knew such simple things would make me so proud?

Little Ascher

As suspected our little guy needed the extra nudge to grace us with his presence. Apparently I know how make my womb pretty comfy. He arrived to us on January 17 at 5:17pm. He weighed in at a whopping 8lb 13 ounces(almost 9 lbs) I have to admit this stunned us as well as the nurses a little bit. Apparently I didn't look big enough to have an almost 9lber.
Words cannot express the immediate and deep love and honor we have to be this little guys parents.
Here is our Little Ascher's birth story-
We arrived at the hospital at 7:30am and my doctor immediatly came in and broke my water-which was probably the most painful part of the whole process. I almost immediately started having contractions. I let them go on for about 30min making myself experience it,I didn't want to feel like a total cheater with the drugs. After about 3o min in they decided they wanted to put me on the Petosin and offered me an epidural which I gratefully took.
It took the doctor a little bit to get it to work and for it to kick in correctly,apparently the space where they put the needle is pretty narrow in my back.
Oh my love for modern medicine!
I felt much better and just rested for a few hours till my second nurse of the day came in and told me that it appeared that my water had not broken all the way and that the doctor would have to come back in to break it again. This time though, it wasn't as bad seeing as I could not feel much from my waist down. Once my water had been broken for the second time I started to regain some feeling on my right side of my body and was starting to feel the contractions again. So I had to get an extra dose of the epidural meds.
I quickly kept making progress through out the day and when they checked me at about 4pm they told me I was at a 9 cm dilated and 100% effaced and they would be back in an hour to check my status. At about 4:45 my doctor came back in and said I was ready to start beginning my practice pushes with my nurse. She suspected it would take about an hour to two hours-boy did I surprise her and myself when after about 15 minutes of pushing I started to crown and she had to call the doctor in to deliver.I lost count but Matt said he didn't think I pushed more then 15 times till I was on my final push. I pushed for the final time and they laid a beautiful, healthy chubby ,curly haired boy onto my chest! I could not control my happiness and just kept staring into his little face and looking back and forth between him and Matt with a permanent smile.
We were officially parents and I could not believe our little guy was FINALLY here!!

Matt and I had decided that we wanted keep Ascher with us in our hospital room, we had already waited long enough for him and didn't want to miss him for a second. Which I am SO glad we did. Ascher slept really well and I am pleased to say that Matt changed all but probably two of his diapers and got to be a pro at it. He is already an AMAZING father and you can feel such a great love coming from him when he holds our little guy.He can't ever get enough of holding him and covering him with dad kisses.I got so used to having him right next to us in the hospital that I have to guiltily admit that Ascher sleeps in the same room as us and even sleeps in bed with us sometimes.( I love it when he does)

A Merry Good Time

Just a small taste of our 1st Christmas as newlyweds.We got to spend time with my family this year. We spent lots of time eating and hanging out and playing lots of games! We were spoiled this year by both of our families and feel incredibly blessed. Now its on to the final countdown for our newest addition. We are excited,nervous,anxious,worn out and happy that we only have 13 days(fingers crossed) left. I have reached the whale baby stage and hate wearing real clothes-hence my grubby attire in all the pictures.I just can't wait to lose the "gut" and have him in my arms.

Safe Zone

This is what I figure.. my blog is private and I think I am pretty safe to assume that there aren't a ton of people who read it anyways. Except for maybe me. So hence, the Safe Zone. I am mostly writing this for me. I tend to find writing therapeutic. Now I am not claiming to be a creative writer or that I say anything ever of significance. I wish I was one of those where people would read things I had written and think "I TOTALLY relate to that" or "that is SO true".
But this post isn't really about any of that. Its mostly just to vent and yes brag. But not about myself... mostly about my wonderful husband.

I think I am pretty safe when I claim that I have been a pretty easy going pregnant woman. Besides the first few months when we found out about our little unexpected "surprise". Those months were a little rough at first. Mostly because I was in much more selfish place and had expected to just be a newlywed for awhile. You know, enjoy all the freedoms of being married but no kids yet. Traveling around the world, not worrying like crazy about insurance and money so much-those kinds of things. After realizing what a blessing our little guy was , I have been pretty un-hormonale.(is that even a word?) I have not been too stressed or onry. This last trimester though my hormones have decided to go a little berserk and I seem to have become a little sensitive and weepy. I tend to get sad or offended way more then normal and have to admit its a little off putting for me.My poor gentleman has had to put up with more tears from me then he is used to and probably more pep talks then he thought he had signed up for.

This week has been no exception to the tears and sadness. Also no exception has been the sweetness and love of my guy. I could not be more blessed or ask for anyone better to be my partner in life and eternity. He knows how to comfort me and when to give me hugs and when to be honest with me. He even gives me kisses on the forehead which I personally believe are magic and can cure almost anything that's ailing me.Really he is perfect and truly my best friend. Finally finding him has put me on the path of starting to become more like the person I have always strived to be. He is my constant. He is my daily inspiration. He tells me I am a sweatheart everyday, and I love him for that.

We are on the final countdown. Only 4 weeks left till our "due" date. I am hoping with all my might he decides to grace us a little early.But if he is anything like his parents he will be stubborn and stick it out in there as long as he can.
My friend E told me today that it felt like I had been pregnant forever! I could not agree with that statement more. I am convinced you have to be pregnant for 9 months though so by the end you are just so ready to have your baby and get "it" out of you that you don't even care as much about the labor part.
*secret confession-I still care just a teeny bit though
We still have no name yet , so he is still Baby Rowley or just Baby in conversations. Why is naming your children so dang hard?
Baby Rowley's room is almost set up to a point that I am almost completely happy with it. Just waiting on his bedding that his Grami B is making him for Christmas. Hope he is okay sharing with guests and our printer.

Thank you to Babies R Us who provides me with a special parking spot if I shop there-I wish other stores would follow your lead.

Thank you to the inventor of stretchy pants, I have come to rely on you when I don't want to wear anything.

Thank you to the "scout" at Walmart who asked me if I wanted to come in and take some model pictures and didn't realize I was 8 months prego till I stood up. Even though I know you just wanted my money, I was still flattered.

Thank you to Lover Boy who puts up with me leaving him at 1am to go out and sleep on the couch.

Thank you for warm baths,your one of the few places I can fully relax

Thank you to my sister for having 2 boys before me so that I can borrow her boys old baby clothes so I don't have to go bankrupt shopping for mine.

Thank you to modern medicine for helping put my crazy fears to rest and tell me that my babe is doing well and could come early and be healthy.

Thank you Lover Boy for allowing me to be able to work from home-I will love you forever for that one!

Wiggles

Have you ever seen that show Alien? That's currently what carrying around this little guy feels like. I think he is running out of room in there. His cute little kicks and wiggles have now turned into full- on inside punching and belly rolls. I have had crazy spastic moments where I feel the need to grab my stomach to hold him in there!
You never know he may just try to emerge that way.
I have my next baby doctor appointment on the 6th and then from there move to once a week appointments. But get this, my doctor told me if I start having contractions 5-7 min apart within an hr that I could and should just go to labor and delivery!

Say what???

Yep, he could officially come and be fine. I think I am okay with him staying in there at LEAST until the end of December but it would be nice for the tax break.

I'm just sayin'

Morning Nap

There are many things I am not good at and cuddling is sometimes one of them. At least that's how the story in our house goes these days because I am currently sporting a large, protruding basketball sized belly.
So hot right now.
As a result it makes it difficult for Lover Boy to snuggle me.
Good thing he has Rhett.
This might be proof I am being secretly weeded out by Rhett.
This morning Lover Boy called to tell me a secret. ..
At some point in the night, Rhett had snuck up on to our bed and slept at LB's feet and we both had NO idea he was there. LB caught him up on our bed at 6am this morning and kicked him off -much to Rhett's annoyance.
I have to point out that our bed is the one place I have REFUSED to let Rhett on and he still is sneaky enough to make it happen. I have to give that dog props though,he sneak attacked me good.

Holidays with Shutterfly

In case I have not mentioned it before I love the holidays. Something about all the decorations, twinkle lights, family time good food and... oh did I mention the food? (Don't judge me I am busy growing a human!)

Now back to my shameless plug for Shutterfly.

Part of the holidays also means-holiday cards! This is actually a part of Christmas I actually really looked forward to.I love getting mail from friends and family. Something about the stamps and crisp envelopes just does it for me. When I was a kid I used to love going to run out to grab the mail during the Christmas season in hopes of finding a bundle of personalized letters(obviously not to me,but I was included in the "family" bit of it) My sisters and I would enjoy reading what everyone had been up to in the past year and then checking out the latest updated picture of each of our holiday once-a-year crush's.

(I am not ashamed of this, you know you have all done it)

As the years have passed I now have my own family to brag about. Yes, that means now I get to send out holiday cards! Which also means I have been on the search in finding easy, creative and cute holiday cards without having to spend a ton. This is harder then it sounds. Till my sister –in- law told me about this site . Shutterfly has so many cute designs and prints to choose from and they are actually reasonably priced and of course it’s EASY! I have already been playing around with 2 cards I like.

Now it might be time to just pick one. This could be tough. I guess I could just play eni-meeny-miney-mo.

So for those of you who blog stalk I am sure you have already come across this.
Its such a clever idea and I think if I weren't enormously prego and unable to wear 90% of what is already in my closet I would probably try my hand at it. It might be a kinda cool take to do it when your prego I guess but really, I don't seem to have the energy or the mulla to make it happen. Even if its 30 outfits in 30 days-seems reasonably cheap right?I like this fellow bloggers style and I personally like that her clothes are AFFORDABLE. Not fake affordable like a lot of others I have seen where all their clothes are Anthropologie(I wish) and Nordstroms.So to her I tip my "hat" and am excited to check back on her progress often.

Over this past weekend my "in-laws" put together a baby shower for me! They are the best 2nd family I could ever ask for. We had some yummy soups and desserts(provided by my eldest sister Amy) along with some laughs and great gifts for the little gentleman.
I even got the stroller I wanted! So excited to snuggle him up tight in it and hopefully get in some good walking/running when he gets here! My littlest sis even made it down from ID for the weekend for the festivities! This little guy will certainly be spoiled with attention when he gets here from all his loving family.
Lover Boy was even getting excited seeing all the baby stuff and was checking out the new car seat and awing at how pretty soon there will be a tiny baby filling the seat. We are getting excited to be parents and he comments at least once a day now about how he is excited for our babe to get here and to be a dad! I can wait at least till his room is a little more complete but I am ready to see my feet again. The other night I woke up in the middle of the night and just felt like I had been pregnant forever.
Can't wait to meet you baby Rowley!

You can now officially add food poisoning to my list of "firsts" this year. Right next to a kidney infection and morning sickness.
I don't think Lover Boy regrets marrying me...... yet! :)
No, I have a wonderful husband who puts up with my weak immune system and sensitive stomach. He took great care of me and kept me smiling in the hospital. And I am secretly convinced our babe is getting cuter and cuter every time I am sick. I mean that's only fair right?Despite all the sickness I still have alot to be grateful for:
I am so happy that our babe is still doing awesome-we got to listen to his heart beat for about 2 hours.
In the hospital they sent us to Labor & Delivery and we got to be in one of the delivery rooms!
The little guy is rolling and kicking like crazy-and I love to feel his nudges.
I can blame my sweet tooth on the little nugget
And I am so grateful for the new job my husband has,which he also happens to actually like.

Pumpkin Bumpkin

I love this time of year. Not so much the weather of course-I could do without the snow. But I love all the holidays and how we have one every month. And this year I appreciate that they are mostly centered around good food.... this babe likes to eat.

For some of our Halloween festivities this year we carved pumpkins with our Monday Movie Night Madness friends.Lover Boy put me on pumpkin guts duty while he got to actually carve our pumpkin- he did a great job! Lets be honest I was just happy he wanted to help. Originally he did not want to carve it at all. All the pumpkins turned out awesome and we actually appear to be pros. Thank goodness for stencils! Can you guess which one is ours?

My feet have almost all disappeared under the bump. I am officially BIG! Can't believe we still have 2 months to go. Can't wait to meet our little man!

Our baby name list is growing longer by the min and I am pretty sure I am driving Lover Boy crazy with all the name possibilities.

A good nights sleep is seemingly becoming more distant

Back aches have become my become my constant companion

I smile at the increasing bumps in my belly and

the waddle is how I get around.

Its just a hunch but I am pretty sure Rhett is excited for a new play mate!

PS I have to announce that I am proud of Lover Boy and his new job. He is a good hubby and will be an awesome father!

I can't wait till our little one gets big enough to try my hands at a few of these ideas. Its possible my child could be super chubby most of his childhood because I will be busy trying to be a domestic cake making mom and of course someone has to eat my work right?

Peach,Bows and Tutu's

Went up to Logan this weekend for a fun- filled,baby inspired weekend! We had a great time eating at lots of our old Logan haunts and snakin on the girly goodies.(Keep in mind we had 2 prego's) Mama Dewey had her baby shower up there and there were lots of fun little activities and super girly decorations(thanks to the talents of E) It turned out great and I hope for her sake that this little baby comes out REAL girly(and with hair) for her mama. I have never seen so many bows and sparkles and peach!

Loved seeing the ladies and hopefully we can all get together soon so our babes can all meet each other outside of the wombs! Can't believe 8 years later we are all going to have kiddos!

But I have a defense. I didn't go to a college where we had a good football team. Actually they sucked and it was embarrassing, I can count on 1 hand the number of the times I went to their games(and we only stayed till half time)

But they are redeemed come basketball season. Thank goodness for that!

I will resist as much as possible for you sake as well as my own to not make our entire blog about babies now.But I have to admit now I have baby stuff on the brain. It doesn't help that my best friend is also pregnant with her first and my other best friend has an adorable little baby boy and everywhere I look there are cute little prego women everywhere.(emphasis on little) I am jealous of the women who stay little all through their pregnancy. I was talking to a girl just the other day and we found out that I was only a little further along then she and you could NOT tell she was pregnant at all. NO JOKE! She was still so tiny and I was the blimp standing next to her. Needless to say I was shocked and went home and cried into my pillow( no that's not true)
I already feel huge(and am huge) .Lover Boy is good to me though and keeps reminding me I am pregnant not fat.I am debating getting a t-shirt made that says that underneath all my tent clothing.

Anyways....... aren't these cute? I love them.Might have to run out to Babies R Us and snag some.
